Bargello In Clay

Bargello Stitching in Clay - Instructor  Carolyn Good

Bargello is a style of embroidery consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. You will learn how to imitate this technique in polymer clay and create several Bargello styles as a veneer and then apply them in different ways.

To see more of Carolyn's Bargello work in black and white take a look here.

For inspiration it is also interesting to look at cloth quilts.

Carolyn will be giving a two hour demonstration of this technique at HORIZONS 2013.This time will be split in two so there will be time to blend colours.

Stay tuned for more information on this and other classes we will be having available at HORIZONS 2013.

FACES was the theme of our November meeting held on Saturday the 12th. Hosted by the talented Ellen Kocher, assisted by Nettonya Ryane, we played with sculpting faces, using face molds and their applications. Olga showed us some of her latest sculpts. A fun time was had by all who attended and played with clay.

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 10 MEETING

 FACE OFF......

Come join the fun as Ellen Kocher guides us through this fun demo using FACES as our theme for the day.

There are many different ways faces can be sculpted and then molded or made from commercial molds. These faces can then be put to many uses such as the example to the left.

So put your best FACE forward while Ellen shares her bag of tricks next Saturday at the clubhouse, Parc Seville
16128-86th Ave., Surrey BC

Any articles or reference books would be great to see as well
We will be trying an assortment of face molds and are asking if attending members and guests could bring any they have, as well as examples of how they have been used.

BUTTON EXCHANGE

As previously mentioned, we will once more be having our Button Exchange during Horizons 2013.

If you are looking for some good ideas look no further than Tina Holden.

In Tina’s most recent Blog post she shares a couple of videos on buttons and cabochons. Video tutorials are new to Tina but she does an excellent job demonstrating this technique.

What a great addition to her already brilliant library of PDF tutorials available through Etsy  or Artfire . Her molds are also available through these sites.

We will have an opportunity to see some of Tina’s work at the Chameleon show during Horizons 2013.
